We are sisters who know the family scene and have caused a few ourselves.
Our book, THE BUFFER ZONE/Crazy is Relative, is today’s how-to-book for dealing with the dysfunctional relatives we all have. Let us help you identify your relative’s special kind of crazy, and calculate the distance of your own Buffer Zone.
We’ve created our Buffer Zones, and celebrate July 31, “The Buffer Zone Day”, with cream-cheese laden food, appropriate cocktails, and the recitation of our favorite dysfunctional family stories.

Family buffer zones? No doubt you’ll be busy this festive season. Like the blog.
Thanks! And yes, it is a busy Buffer Zone season, right behind National Trailer Park month. All the best, Diane
Dysfunctional I am keenly aware of in most of my everyday behavior. Why else would you find a guy leaving the big city (Philly) and moving to a cabin in the wilderness of Northern Alaska. You would think one would like to keep the electricity, running water, cell phone service, TV/cable etc he knew for 48 years back in the lower 48. So maybe that’s why I was drawn to your postings a long distance kindred spirit. ((Thanks for visiting my cyber home and welcome to some dysfunctional thoughts from Alaska))
My goodness, that is quite a change. Congrats on establishing a pretty impressive Buffer Zone. I am looking forward to hearing about it.
Love your blog…helps me to laugh because God knows I need to! Thank you for your “follow” and I am now “following” you at a functionally safe distance! LOL
Thanks! Glad BZ could provide you with a chuckle. Smart idea to establish a “Follow Buffer Zone.” All the best, Diane

Crazy is Relative–love it! Come from a family of 5 kids, but none are dysfunctional (anymore haha). Thanks for the follow!
5 dysfunction-free kids in one family? Congrats on that!! All the best to all of you, Diane
Haha thanks 🙂 I did say not dysfunctinal anymore… When we were growing up, we called ourselves the Triple C (Crazy Carlson Clan)
Well, I for one look forward to celebrating with you this July 31st. It should be a hoot. I also look forward to reading more of your posts. Cheers…oh wait, is it time for that cocktail, yet?
Peace, ~.
